The Gordon Winter Company provides EPC contracting services in civil engineering, building construction, specialist piling services, scaffolding services and structural steel and steel pipe fabrication services. Its subsidiary TechCrete provides high strength concrete and concrete solutions. Project Management and construction management is offered to clients through the Toucan Company.
The Group provides high class services in its chosen fields at competitive rates and believes in an open style of management in its relationship with its clients and employees.
The Group has been trading successfully since 1997 and is introducing new technology to the construction industry in Trinidad and Tobago particularly in the fields of piling, high strength concrete and post tensioning of concrete.
The piling industry in Trinidad and Tobago has been dominated to date by the use of driven piles, either steel or more commonly pre-cast pre-stressed concrete. The use of such driven piles is environmentally unfriendly through diesel and noise pollution, and has undesirable effects through vibration. GW is introducing the use of augured piles to eliminate diesel and noise pollution, reduce transportation hazards and reduce vibration problems. Where pre-formed, e.g. sheet piles are desirable; GW offers a vibratory hammer driving service. This is provided via an ICE high-energy vibrator with a maximum centrifugal force and frequency of 1250 KN and 1750 rpm respectively.
Since 2000 GW, through its energy subdivision, has been a registered contractor with the Trinmar Business Unit of Petrotrin performing abrasive blasting & painting, structural steel fabrication, marine construction, platform maintenance, pipeline fabrication and tank fabrication/repair services. GW has recently registered with Petrotrin to perform the same services as well as civil, concrete and piling services throughout Petrotrin’s operations.
TechCrete is using the latest technology to supply high strength concrete to clients, which is mixed on site using a mobile batching plant, giving precise mixes and eliminating waste. In January of 2002, TechCrete laid the first post-tension ground slab, 30,000 sf, in Trinidad which resulted in considerable time and cost savings1 to the owner. GW has recently been contracted to design and build what will be the first multi-story post-tensioned building in Trinidad.
The Group’s goals are to continue to grow in our chosen fields in accordance with our business plan, to attract further investment and to provide our shareholders with excellent dividends. Additionally, GW is committed to providing employees with a safe productive workplace and encouraging them to develop professionally in a manner that contributes positively to their personal growth and the Group’s future.
GW’s commitment to safety and quality has translated into the development of a Safety Health and Environment (SHE) policy and Quality policy. GW’s SHE policy is integrated into all jobs by GW’s in-house safety supervisor. GW’s quality policy is implemented via method statements and inspection and test procedures that are designed and monitored by its technical staff.
Since its formation in 1997, the Group has achieved steady growth in turnover and profits, and now stands poised for a period of steady growth.
